I believe in everything until it’s disproved. So I believe in fairies, the myths, dragons. It all exists, even if it’s in your mind. Who’s to say that dreams and nightmares aren’t as real as the here and now?”
― John Lennon

If you believe in witches and magic you probably also believe in fairies, myths, dragons and even voodoo lore. Mythical creatures are said to bring gifts and messages that are sent by the deities. These amazing creatures can also be invoked through voodoo and witchcraft spells to bring their magical qualities and strengths to bear. Dolls, fairies, and dragon and animal figurines are often used by Wiccans for magical spells and rituals.

Ancient Egyptians believed that sacred creatures were the embodiment of the gods and goddesses that ruled them. In fact, the human form is not crucial in the beliefs of many tribal and ancient societies. Spirits are always shifting and they can take form in humans, animals, birds, fairies, even dolls or sacred objects. Likewise, these spirits could also take shape in humans.  Wiccans often use animals and sacred objects such as dolls for protection and good luck spells.

Warrior would go into battle in a trance like state, believed to be possessed by animal spirits such as wolves. In ancient times, people would keep pets in their homes and believe them to be the spirit of an ancient ancestor. Some witches have snakes as their spiritual protectors, others have dogs. Witches often carry objects that are thought to contain magical powers or the ability to protect or bring good luck to them or their loved ones. Voodoo dolls and various objects and animals can have great meaning to a witch.

Witches definitely believe in fairies, myths and dragons. Fairy lore, ancient myths and animals are often an elemental part of a witch’s belief system, rituals and spells. As Lennon says, it all exists, even if it’s in your mind.
